    Alliance Overview.

    Deliver or arrange for the delivery of proper rigging practice courses.
    Work with Industry and OSHA to provide expertise, and to develop workplace safety and health quick cards for proper rigging practices and techniques.

    • Training and Education

      2ASSE safety updates with rigging as a topic

      Weekly Site orientations covered rigging as an area of enhanced concern

      Numerous Building Trades Union apprenticeship training presentations by OSHA Compliance Assistance Specialists included rigging 10,000 training handouts produced and distributed to Milwaukee Building Trades (members and apprenticeship)

    • Outreach and Communication

      Email communications between implementation team members regarding rigging issues (i.e. recalls on hardware, unfortunate events, training materials, and a forum for getting information to/.from peers)

      Incorporation of rigging issues into training by all team members.

      Developed a wallet card as an aid for rigging lifted loads in construction. 10,000 produced and distributed to Milwaukee Building Trades (members and apprenticeship)

      Developed a wallet quick card for rigging with the power plant owners, labor, management, the American Society of Safety Engineers and OSHA

  4. Results

    A. 1. Developed an awareness of the hazards in rigging noting that the large loads were generally well planned, and the smaller everyday rigging was not engineered as well and was left to the craftspeople to rig with varying results. Therefore a goal was set to develop a tool to this area of concern.

    A.2. Developed a small quick reference document for use by craftpersons and others regarding safe rigging practices.
