The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Occupational Safety (DOS) and Human Resources Division (HRD) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and healthier American workplaces. OSHA, DOS and HRD hereby form an Alliance to provide employees and others in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with information and guidance that will help protect employee safety and health, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to the following hazards: trenching, confined space entry, bloodborne pathogens (BBP), and lockout/tagout (LOTO). The Alliance will also provide participants with information and guidance in the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent hazardous exposures. In developing this Alliance, OSHA, DOS and HRD recognize that Consultation Projects are an integral part of the OSHA national effort.
OSHA, DOS and HRD will work together to achieve the following goals related to promoting the national dialogue on workplace safety and health:
OSHA' Alliances provide parties an opportunity to participate in a voluntary cooperative relationship with OSHA for purposes such as training and education, outreach and communication and promoting the national dialogue on workplace safety and health. These Alliances have proved to be valuable tools for both OSHA and its Alliance participants. By entering into an Alliance with a party, OSHA is not endorsing any of that party' products or services, nor does the Agency enter into an Alliance with the purpose of promoting a particular party' products or services.
