OSHA's San Antonio, Texas Area Office Works With Mexican Consulate to Provide Outreach During 2011 Labor Rights Week

OSHA's San Antonio, Texas Area Office worked with the Mexican Consulate in San Antonio to provide workplace safety and health information to Mexican nationals and other local workers during Labor Rights Week on August 29 to September 5, 2011. During Labor Rights Week, OSHA participates in events around the country sponsored by embassies and consulates from Mexico and other countries.

During the August 29, 2011 kickoff event for the San Antonio week, the Mexican Consul General provided opening remarks about Labor Rights Week activities. Participating U.S. Department of Labor agencies (OSHA, Wage and Hour Division, and the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission) each gave five-minute summaries about their mission and how they help workers. During the week, representatives from OSHA's San Antonio Area Office gave daily presentations in Spanish that covered workers' rights, how to file an OSHA complaint, OSHA regulations, recordkeeping, and preventing injuries, illnesses, and fatalities. OSHA representatives also staffed a table that provided OSHA information in Spanish, including QuickCardsTM, fact sheets, booklets, and the OSHA 7 complaint form.

As of February 2011.
