  • The Buffalo, NY Area Office conducted a Fall Stand-Down event at the Buffalo Bills stadium construction site.
  • The Andover, MA Area Office holds regular fall protection information sessions in both English and Spanish for recently-cited employers working to abate hazards.
Grain Handling
  • The Sioux Falls, SD Area Office presented at the kickoff event for the 2024 Stand Up for Grain Safety Week and recorded informational videos for the event.
  • The Peoria, IL Area Office presented at the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois Operations Conference regarding the Regional Grain Handling Emphasis Program, and frequently identified industry hazards, including unguarded machinery, uncontrolled hazardous energy (lockout/tagout), powered industrial vehicles, and fall, electrical, and noise hazards.
  • The Omaha, NE Area Office conducted a meet-and-greet and question-and-answer session with more than 30 representatives of grain facilities across the state of Nebraska during Stand Up for Grain Safety Week 2024.
  • The Appleton, WI Area Office promoted the 2024 Stand-Up 4 Grain Safety on a Wisconsin country music radio station.
Heat Illness Prevention
  • The New York City Region collaborated with the State Department of Agriculture and Markets to conduct a webinar for farm owners and workers on heat illness prevention.
  • The Baltimore, MD Area Office was interviewed on two different area radio stations about recognizing and the signs and symptoms of heat illness.
  • The Atlanta-East, GA Area Office gave a presentation to the Associated Builders and Contractors of Georgia on core elements of a workplace heat illness prevention program.
  • The Dallas Region developed videos and public service announcements in English and Spanish to promote heat illness prevention resources to employers and workers in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
  • The Las Vegas Area, NV Office held a roundtable discussion with airport workers regarding extreme heat exposures and heat illness prevention.
Manufacturing
  • The Erie, PA Area Office gave a presentation on OSHA’s compliance assistance programs and resources to manufacturing industry employers in northwest Pennsylvania.
  • The Ft. Lauderdale, FL Area Office delivered a presentation on workplace safety and health programs and staffed an exhibit booth at the South Florida Manufacturers Association Safety Fair.
  • The Naperville, IL Area office participated in the 2024 Safety Day event at Elgin Community College and shared information on emergency response, machine guarding, and other workplace safety information with manufacturing and construction professionals in attendance.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
  • The Austin, TX Area Office wrote a piece for a local construction industry newsletter on industry suicide prevention that was published during Suicide Prevention Month in September.
  • The Philadelphia, PA Regional Office participated in a panel discussion on mental health at the Philadelphia Building Trades Business Manager Symposium.
  • The Atlanta-West, GA Area Office renewed and expanded its Georgia Mental Health Alliance to include new signatories, including the Associated General Contractors of Georgia and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention of Georgia, and held a workplace mental health stand-down to coincide with the signing.
Recordkeeping
  • The New York City Region sponsored a webinar on OSHA injury reporting and tracking requirements that was attended by nearly 1,500 stakeholders.
  • The Corpus Christi, TX Area Office gave a presentation to a group of construction subcontractors on recordkeeping and reporting requirements and the changes to OSHA’s electronic submission requirements.
  • Area Offices around the country assisted covered employers in meeting the March 2, 2024 deadline to submit 2023 injury and illness data through OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application.
Severe Weather
  • The Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa, FL Area Offices provided technical assistance and educational materials to workers engaged in Hurricane Helene preparedness, response and recovery.
  • The Dallas, TX Regional Office was interviewed by a local Spanish-language television station after Hurricane Beryl’s landfall on hazards and best practices when conducting emergency response activities.
  • The Toledo, OH Area Office canvased tornado-impacted counties and shared information on common hazards associated with disaster response and cleanup.
  • The Oklahoma City, OK Area Office offered technical assistance in Spanish to roofing contractors on fall protection and heat illness prevention during tornado response operations.
Small Business
  • The Orlando, FL Area Office discussed OSHA resources for small businesses at an event hosted by the local Mexican consulate.
  • The Philadelphia Region and the Small Business Administration held a series of webinars on workplace hazards and compliance assistance resources.
  • The Kansas City, MO Regional Office met with new small business owners/managers to discuss employer responsibilities and available compliance assistance resources, including the On-Site Consultation Program.
  • The San Antonio, TX Area Office staffed an information booth at the annual Bexar County Small Business & Entrepreneurship Department conference, where they shared OSHA resources and answered attendee questions.
Trenching and Excavation
  • The Boston and New York City Regions conducted a joint webinar on trenching and excavation safety in the northeast.
  • The Pittsburgh, PA Area Office delivered a presentation on safe trenching and excavation practices at an event sponsored by Pennsylvania One Call (811).
  • The Erie, Pennsylvania Area office, in conjunction with an OSHA Strategic Partnership site, conducted a Trench Safety Stand-Down event for workers and contractors on location.
  • The Denver Region collaborated with NUCA to host the Colorado Trench Safety Stand-Down for more than 200 participants. The event featured several outdoor demonstration stations.
Youth/Teen Workers
  • The Bridgeport, CT Area Officed delivered a presentation to technical high school students on frequently identified hazards in healthcare industry workplaces.
  • The Omaha, NE Area Office spoke about construction safety hazards with college juniors and seniors preparing for careers in the industry.
  • The Boise, ID Area Office has alliances with the Dennis Technical Education Center of the Boise School District and the Career and Technical Education Center of Idaho Falls through which it provides occupational safety and health training and resources to students in these programs.
  • The Atlanta, GA Regional Office supported the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference and provided judges for the occupational safety and health competition.
