At 4:30 p.m. on September 29, 2017, an employee was making an adjustment to the core rod height on an Elmco 125 Ton Press, Serial Number 125-578, Model Number 1 280/8-20. The employee had his hand on the front of the press and placed his le ft hand on the control panel as he stood up. His hand hit the rod up/down/auto wind switch into the down mode and the core rods moved down, catching his right hands pinky, partially amputating it. Hospitalization was not required.
