Investigation Summary
At 4:30 p.m. on September 29, 2017, an employee was making an adjustment to the core rod height on an Elmco 125 Ton Press, Serial Number 125-578, Model Number 1280/8-20. The employee had his hand on the front of the press and placed his left hand on the control panel as he stood up. His hand hit the rod up/down/auto wind switch into the down mode and the core rods moved down, catching his right hands pinky, partially amputating it. Hospitalization was not required.
