Investigation Summary
At 6:15 p.m. on February 6, 2020, an employee working as a machine operator for a commercial printer was reaching into the confines of a UV Coater printing press. The employee was cleaning the print rollers and doctor blade using a rag. The employee opened a Plexiglas movable guard to clean the rollers while the machine was still running. The rag was pulled into the ingoing nip point pulling the employee's right hand in along with the rag. The employee amputated his middle fingertip and was hospitalized.
