Abstract:
Notice of an informal public hearing concerning the notices of
proposed rulemaking issued on November 25, 1986 on scaffolds (51 FR
42680), fall protection (51 FR 42718), and stairways and ladders (51
FR 42750) used in the construction industry. Comment period for
written response on the fall protection proposal is reopened to
obtain additional information on workers engaged in steel erection
activities. The hearing will begin on March 22, 1988 in Washington,
D.C.

AGENCY: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Department of Labor

ACTION: Issuance of voluntary guidelines.

Abstract:
This notice extends the period for the submission of public comments
on the issues raised in the August 8, 1988 (53:29822) notice of
proposed rulemaking (NPRM), and for the submission of notices of
intention to appear at an informal hearing on the NPRM, from October
7, 1988, until October 28, 1988. It also reschedules the beginning
of the informal public hearing from November 13, 1988 to December 6,
1988.

Abstract:
OSHA's final rule for Excavations, published on October 31, 1989 (54
FR 45894), was originally scheduled to become effective on January
2, 1990. OSHA is hereby further delaying the effective date of that
final rule to provide additional time for employers to come into
compliance with the final rule. The final rule will become effective

Abstract:
The meeting of the Shipyard Employment Standards Advisory Committee
which was scheduled for October 11-12, 1989 is cancelled because of
the need for additional time to consider and review written
materials on the agenda items. OSHA plans to reschedule the meeting
