This notice amends appendix B of OSHA''s lead standard, 29 CFR 1910. 1025, by removing a sentence that is no longer applicable. When the standard was issued, a requirement in the medical surveillance provisions for "multiple physician review" was temporarily delayed by the Court of Appeals and notification of the delay was included in appendix B. This notice removes that sentence (at VIII. Medical Surveillance - Paragraph (J), 8th paragraph, 7th sentence). The amendment is effective 2/13/90.

Abstract:
This satement of reasons sets forth OSHA's determinations with
regard to the technological and economic feasibility of meeting the
permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 50 micograms per cubic meter of
air specified in the lead standard through engineering and work
practice controls in nine industry sectors: SIC 3341/3362, 5093,
2816/2819, 2816, 3312/3313, 3362/3369, 3341, 3731, 4463. OSHA has
determined that the standard is both technologically and
economically feasible in eight of the nine industry sectors.

On 11/14/1978, OSHA published a final rule in the Federal Register on occupational exposure to lead (29 CFR 1910.1025, 43 FR 52952). This document makes administrative corrections and amendments to 29 CFR 1910. 1025, based on the lifting of a judicial stay which had been in effect on the effective date of the final standard.
