UA Safe State Provides Heat Illness Prevention Training

UA Safe State participated in the heat illness prevention outreach campaign hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The campaign helps raise employers’ awareness on how to protect their employees from heat-related illnesses.
Throughout the week, UA Safe State’s 21(d) team engaged with employers, generating awareness of OSHA Consultation and OSHA resources available to help better manage heat exposures.
Overall, UA Safe State's campaign delivered three large-scale construction training courses that reached over 1,000 workers and distributed more than 500 heat information brochures, hosted a live Heat Hazards virtual seminar, social media postings, and a formal press release summarizing the program’s efforts.
Outreach visits were made to construction sites, warehouses, foundries, landscapers, and baking and dry-cleaning facilities to share information about heat stress and OSHA Consultation. In addition to the environmental assessments of heat exposures, UA Safe State offers personal real-time monitoring of workers’ biometrics in hot environments.
The OSHA On-Site Consultation Program offers no-cost and confidential occupational safety and health services to small and medium-sized businesses in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and several U.S. territories, with priority given to high-hazard worksites. Consultants from state agencies or universities work with employers to identify workplace hazards and how to fix them, provide advice for compliance with OSHA standards, train and educate workers, and assist in establishing and improving safety and health programs. On-Site Consultation services are separate from OSHA enforcement efforts. To locate the OSHA On-Site Consultation program nearest you, call 1-800-321-OSHA (6742) or visit www.osha.gov/consultation.
