Hudson Technologies, Inc. provides products and services that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, and promote sustainability to ensure future generations inherit a healthy planet.

In 2021, senior EHS manager Antoine Joseph was charged with strengthening the EHS department and reducing recordable injuries and illnesses at the Smyrna, Georgia plant, prompting leaders to recognize the need for meaningful action to improve performance.

Recognizing the need to shift the plant's cultural mindset, he reached out to Georgia Tech's Safety, Health, and Environmental Services (SHES) program.

Through collaboration with consultation the facility has made significant strides:

  • Implemented targeted safety training, including 10 hour OSHA courses for supervisors and 30 hour OSHA courses for safety wardens.
  • Held monthly safety meetings to document how employees are applying their training.
  • Improved efficiency by 20% by enhancing housekeeping practices, strengthening ergonomics processes, and prioritizing employee wellbeing.
  • Achieved zero recordable injuries across all locations.

"The commitment to safety has worked its way through the entire organization. Working with SHES has enabled us to think outside the box and take our safety program to the next step. You are safe, but you can be safer." -Antoine Joseph, senior EHS manager at Hudson Technologies in Smyrna, Georgia

OSHA's On-Site Consultation Program offers no-cost and confidential occupational safety and health services to small and medium-sized businesses in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and several U.S. territories, with priority given to high hazard worksites. Consultants from state agencies and universities collaborate with employers to identify workplace hazards and how to fix them, provide advice for compliance with OSHA standards, train and educate workers, and assist in establishing and improving safety and health programs. On-Site Consultation services are separate from OSHA enforcement efforts.
