At 3:00 p.m. on July 24, 2012, Employee #1 was delivering mail on foot in a residential neighborhood. Employee #1 passed out due to heat stress/heat exhaustion with a national heat advisory in effect. Employee #1 was brought to the hospital and died with a heat core index of 108.7 degrees.
