Event: 12/02/2013
Worker Fractures Foot in Fall from Ladder

On December 2, 2013, Employee #1, a drywall installer, and Coworker #1, both employed by a construction contractor, were working at a commercial building. Employee #1 was working from a ladder. He was standing on a rung 10 to 15 feet from the ground and teaching Coworker #1 how to pin Oriented Strand Board (OSB) in place with a nail gun. Employee #1 lost control of the OSB, which caught on the hose of his nail gun and pulled him from the ladder. Employee #1 either fell or jumped back from the ladder and landed on his right foot. He was transported to the hospital, where he was admitted and treated for a fracture of the right foot.
