Employee's Arm Is Caught in Mixer and Is Injured

On September 23, 2013, Employee #1 was adding additives into a production mix inside an unguarded kettle (Number 19). During this manual process, his right hand upper arm became pinched between the holding plate and the rotating stainless steel arm of the kettle. Employee #1 sustained laceration and ligament damage to his right arm. Employee #1 was transported to a medical center, where he was hospitalized and treated for the injuries and then discharged two days later from the hospital.
