Employeei Falls from H Frame, Later Dies

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 7, 2013, an employee was removing electrical wiring in an empty building. He climbed a 12 foot ladder, and then free climbed an additional four feet and 4 inches to an "H" frame. While on the horizontal part of the "H" frame, the employee lost his footing and fell 16 feet and four inches. A coworker working with the employee stated that he did not see the employee actually fall, but that he heard him scream, then heard a thud. When the coworker turned around, he saw the employee lying flat on his back. According to the coworker, there was a small puddle underneath the employee's head. The employee was still conscious and asked the coworker to take him to the hospital. The coworker loaded the employee into his own truck and took him to UMC Hospital. According to doctors at UMC Hospital, the employee suffered from cranial hemorrhaging and spinal injuries. The employee died at approximately 10:34 a.m. on August 8, 2013.
