Investigation Summary
On Saturday May 4, 2013, Employee #1, a 59-year-old male Engineer from California Corrections, Avenal was discovered by a coworker at 11:00 p.m. lying on the ground and unresponsive. Employee #1 was performing his duties as a stationary engineer and was resetting turbines at the Co-Gen Plant to restore electricity to the facility. Cal/OSHA investigated, the fatality was a probable heart attack.
