Employee Suffers a Broken Ankle

At approximately 3:30 p.m., on November 13, 2012, Employee #1 of Hofmar Engineering & Construction Inc. sustained a leg injury while in the course of his normal work duties as a general construction laborer. Employee #1 was working as an asphalt shoveler on a street paving crew that was applying an asphalt patch to the side of the road. When he noticed that he had left his shovel in the paver's hopper, he ran to retrieve it. In doing so, his foot was caught in the area of the unpaved surface and the paver's frame when the equipment was moving. Employee #1 fractured his ankle and was hospitalized for a period of two days.
