Employee Is Eletrocuted When Tree Limb Contacts Power Line

On October 15, 2012, Employee #1, Department of Correction (DOC), was performing tree-thinning activities with inmates that were working in a Class IV Community Work Industries program, under the direction of the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The inmates were thinning a tree when a limb fell into an 115KV power line. The tree limb struck Employee #1 and his body was exposed to the downed power line. The employee was electrocuted and transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
