Investigation Summary
On February 9, 2013, Employee #1 was pruning one of eight apple trees at the employer's residence. The employee was standing on a ladder approximately 7 ft off the ground. Employee #1 lost his footing and fell from a ladder injuring his back. After falling, the employee called his wife from his cell phone and she contacted Medical Rescue Service via 911. The local fire department responded and Employee #1 was taken to a local hospital, where he was X-rayed and then transported via ambulanced to a regional hospital, where he underwent spinal surgery. The employee remained hospitalized for five days.
