Person Looking for Work Falls Off Roof at Construction Site

On September 23, 2011, an individual fell off the roof of a residential structure that was under construction. He fell approximately 15 feet (4.6 meters) to the ground. The owner of the framing subcontractor at the site stated that he saw the individual fall from the roof. As he fell, the individual struck a block wall, and then a mobile scaffold, before hitting the ground. Emergency medical services were notified, and the individual was transported to the University Medical Center, where he was hospitalized for ten hours before being released. Personnel from the Tucson office of the Arizona DOSH responded to the accident scene and were informed that the individual was not an employee. Someone who was an employee explained that the individual was looking for a job at the time of the fall.
