Worker Injured in a Fall from a 14 Foot Ladder

On August 29, 2012, Employee #1, a 28-year-old male laborer with Jerling Management Co Inc., was working on an extension ladder that was in good condition. The ladder was leaned against secured ductwork that he was to clean. The side of the ductwork was measured 14.5-feet. Employee #1 was ascending the ladder rapidly while a coworker held the ladder. The coworker stepped away for a moment when the ladder slid out from underneath Employee #1 causing him to fall. Employee #1 fell approximately eight-feet to the ground and was hospitalized from unspecified laceration injuries. Employee #1 was a permanent full time employee of the Employer. The employer is contracted by businesses to clean their air ducting. On the day of this incident, the employer was contracted to clean ducting at a restaurant.
