Employee's Hand Is Pulled Into Conveyor and Is Lacerated

On September 10, 2011, Employee #1, a production mechanic, was working on a loose belt of a running conveyor on the food processing line of a facility. As he adjusted the idler pulley to tighten the belt, his wrench suddenly slipped. His right hand was caught by the conveyor's moving parts and was pulled in between the belt and idler pulley. Employee #1 suffered a laceration on his right hand. He was transported to a medical center, where he underwent surgical procedures and was hospitalized for postoperative care.
