Employee's Toe Is Caught in Sprocket and Amputates Toe Tip

On September 15, 2011, Employee #1 was operating a stacker machine, which was used to rack wooden material. While the machine was running, a board was caught in its moving parts. He attempted to retrieve the board with a picaroon tool. As he pulled the board, Employee #1 slipped and fell towards the machine. His right foot caught the chain return sprocket on the machine and injured its toe. Employee #1 was transported to a medical center, where he underwent treatment, including the surgical removal of the damaged toe tip. Following the procedures, he was hospitalized for postoperative care.
