Employee Finger Is Amputated in Lift Equipment

On July 7, 2011, Employee #1, a forklift operator was driving a Toyota sit down forklift. The employee approached an intersection with the intent to make a left hand turn onto a middle aisle. The employee was positioned on the left hand corner to make a turn, when he cut the corner too tight, causing the forklift to come into contact with a stack of redwood dog eared fencing. Employee #1 instinctively stuck his left hand out to try and stop what was happening. Employee #1's left hand was smashed between the forklift and product. The employee was hospitalized after sustaining a partial pinky and ring finger tip amputation.
