Worker Dies in Fall from Height

At approximately 9:10 a.m. on April 1, 2011, Employee #1 and coworkers were working at the Illinois Wesleyan University baseball field repairing a standing seam metal roof that had slid into the gutter of a concession stand. Employee #1 was working off of a ladder or a scaffold at a height of approximately eight ft. The coworkers heard a noise. When they went to investigate, they found Employee #1 lying on the concrete. Emergency services were called and Employee #3 was transferred to the hospital. Employee #3 died on April 8, 2011 at 10:57 p.m. as a result of head injuries sustained from the fall. The climate daily report from the National Weather Service in Lincoln, IL, indicated that the high temperature for the day was 56 degrees. The highest wind speed for the day was 20 mph. The wind direction was out of the West Northwest.
