Employee Fractures Leg When He Fall Into Excavation

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on February 23, 2012, Employee # 1 and coworker were in the process of excavating and installing trench shield system. Employee # 1 was checking the depth of the excavation from the edge with a measuring tape, and he leaned too far forward and fell into the excavation. Employee # 1 suffered a compound fracture to the left femur. Employee #1 was air lifted to Kern Medical Center. The accident was reported to the Van Nuys District office on February 23, 2012 at 1:14pm by the employer.
