Four Employees Suffer Heat Related Illness

On November 3, 2010, Employee's #1, #2, #3, and #4, fire suppression aid trainees were training at an academy. They were part of a group of 30 trainees who were working strenuously doing morning hikes, brush clearing with tools and going through an obstacle course. The maximum temperature was 94 degrees Fahrenheit. All four employees were hospitalized due to heat related illness. They indicated that did not have enough time to drink water and felt that they could not take a rest break in the shade without being cut from the academy.
