Employees Suffer Chlorine Exposure

At approximately 4:11 p.m.on August 15 2011, Employee #1 and Employee #2 were working near a wave pool, and experienced respiratory problems resulting from potential chlorine overexposure. The accident occured when the filtering motor stopped circulating the water, due to a broken motor shaft in the wave pool and the pool cleaning chemicals accumulated in the system. Upon discovering the pump failure, a second filtering pump was brought online resulting in excessive release of sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid into the wave pool. Neither Employee #1 or Employee #2 had injuries that required hospitalization.
