Worker Dies from Heart Attack

On March 28, 2011, Employee #1, a 46-year-old male with Fluor Industrial Services Inc, was a passenger in one of the company's trucks in the work area on the south side of the Smelter on Kennecott's property. Employee #1 suffered a heart attack according to the State of Utah Medical Examiner's report. Kennecott's guard shack was notified of the emergency by the driver of the truck Employee #1 was riding in at approximately 3:55 a.m. Employee #1 was taken to Pioneer Valley Hospital. A family member notified Fluor's Safety Director that Employee #1 died at 4:47 a.m.
