Employee Fractures Foot When Run over by Forklift

On January 31, 2010, Employee #1, a forklift operator of YRC Incorporated, backed his forklift off the road. It was positioned to the side of the road, roughly perpendicular to the marked travel lane, leaving the forks in the travel lane with the tips raised approximately 1 in. to 2 in. high. Employee #1 dismounted his forklift and was standing to its left side. Another forklift, operating in the travel lane, struck the raised forks, causing the rear end of Employee #1's forklift to swing to the left. As a result, Employee #1 was knocked down and his foot was run-over. He was transported to the hospital and treated for multiple fractures of his metatarsal bones.
