Employee's Fingers Are Crushed by Lid on Salt Furnace

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on February 10, 2010, Employee #1, 50 years of age, an employee of Triumph Thermal Systems, Inc., a company that designs, develops, tests and manufactures high quality thermal systems for the aerospace industry, was prying the 2200 lb lid off of a molten salt furnace (Upton salt bath furnace). The lid became stuck while closing. As Employee #1 pried the lid up, it rolled back and smashed three fingers on his right hand. There were no witnesses.
