Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202627998
Event: 12/07/2010
Employee's Hand Is Caught in Machine Rollers

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on December 7, 2010, Employee #1, a machine operator, was using a LODGE & SHIPLEY tooling down lathe, Machine #2, located in the rubber rollers manufacturing department. During tooling down, he was cutting excessive rubber from a revolving 100-inch by 17.5-inch rubber coated roller. The excess rubber debris was depositing on the carriage bed. Employee #1 was pushing the debris with his right hand when it contacted the revolving roller and was pulled in between the roller and the carriage bed. Employee #1 sustained contusions and abrasions to his right hand. He was taken to the Loma Linda Regional Medical Center for treatment.
