Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on December 2, 2008, Employee #1 was installing thermal insulation and fireproof caulking material around the electrical installations and the wall and floor penetrations prior to the installation of drywall. The work site was a hotel under construction. Employee #1 walked into Room 241 and bumped into a stack of approximately 12 drywall sheets stacked on edge and leaning on the wall to his right. The drywall sheets tipped away from the wall and fell toward the floor. The sheets struck Employee #1 in the lower left leg and pinned the leg to the floor. Employee #1 suffered two broken bones in his lower left leg that required surgery. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
