Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202601233
Event: 09/10/2009
Employee Is Injured by Falling Wall

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on September 10, 2009, Employee #1 and a coworker were setting up a 60 ft by 10 ft framed side wall of a modular office building. They were using two overhead cranes. The front and rear walls were already attached to the floor of the building. They nailed the front side of the wall to the floor and the front wall. They removed the strap from the front wall. The coworker went to the other end of the wall to secure it. As he moved it into position, the unstable wall shifted and toppled onto Employee #1. Employee #1's tailbone and left ankle were fractured. He was hospitalized for four days for surgery to treat his fractures.
