Employee Falls From Tractor And Later Dies

On April 16, 2009, Employee #1 was cutting the grass on the right-of-way near New Horn Lake Rd and Rivergate Rd, Memphis, TN. He was operating a tractor fitted with a 15 foot wide mower deck equipped with mower wings. The right front wheel of the tractor got tangled up in a guy wire for a power pole. He stopped the tractor and attempted to clear the guy wire by passing it over the tractor and mower deck. He fell approximately 6 feet from the side of the tractor while trying to pass the guy wire over the tractor's exhaust pipe. He landed on his shoulder/back/neck. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and observation. He was released from the hospital on April 27, 2009. He was found dead at his home on May 8, 2009.
