Worker Amputates Finger in Bagging Machine

On April 21, 2010, Employee #1, of Idocold Packaging, Inc., was readying to change bags on the Vertical Bagger. The machine guard and safety door switch had been removed when Employee #1 reached his arm toward the bagging mechanism. He also reached for the stop button. His shirt sleeve was caught in the bagging mechanism, and his hand pulled into the cutting blades. Employee #1 was treated for an amputation of his left index finger.
