Employee Is Injured in Fall from Scaffold

On January 11, 2010, Employee #1 was plastering a section of a commercial building. The work area was located under metal awnings that were permanently attached to the building by steel supports. Employee #1 was working from a scaffold platform approximately 9.8 ft above the surrounding grade. The platform did not have guardrails or any other safety system. Employee #1 hit his hard hat on one of the steel awning supports which caused him to lose his balance. He fell from the platform and suffered fractures which were not specified in the narrative. He was hospitalized for treatment.
