Event: 11/02/2009
Employee's Arm Is Injured by Nail Gun

On November 2, 2009, Employee #1 was installing a bracket on a roof rafter. He was using a nail gun. When the nail hit the metal bracket instead of the hole in the bracket, the nail gun kicked back. In an effort to not to lose his balance and fall backwards, Employee #1 brought his arms to the front of his body and shifted his center of gravity forward. HIs bodily motions brought the nail gun into contact with his left bicep, while his right index finger was still on the trigger. Employee #1 was injured when the nail gun fired a 16 penny nail into his bicep. He was hospitalized for treatment of his injury.
