Employee Amputates Finger in Conveyor

On October 7, 2008, an employee was working on the conveyor. While removing a piece of wood scrap from a roller conveyor, a tip of the employee's glove was caught in chain that drives rollers. Chain was guarded; however, a narrow gap between the guard and the roller allowed the glove to come into contact with the chain. The employee's finger was pulled into the guards, causing the tip of his fourth digit on his right hand to be amputated. The employee was not hospitalized.
