Truck Rolls over Truck Driver Leg

At approximately 8:30 a.m. on July 14, 2009, Employee # 1, a truck driver and regular full-time employee, had finished delivering goods in a 1995, Ford, F350 XL, white, utility box truck with lift gate, Vehicle Identification Number FDK37G1NB52432, to the wild animal park. This particular delivery port had a paved surface was located just behind the ticket counter at the main entrance of the park. Employee #1 stopped the truck by the curbside and got out of the truck to communicate with another employee to close the gate behind him. The other employee agreed to close the gate. Employee #1 then proceeded towards the truck. Employee #1 released the emergency brake before getting inside the truck, as he completed this action, the truck started moving away from him. Employee #1 started to run after the truck to stop it. Employee #1 fell down at about ninety-feet away and his right leg got caught in between the left rear dual tires. Emergency personnel responded to the site. Employee #1 was immediately taken to the Palomar Medical Center for treatment and released after 24 days. Employee #1 sustained serious injury to the right leg losing part of his thigh muscle.
