Employee's Finger Tips Are Amputated by Lawn Mower

On August 11, 2009, Employee #1, who works as a grounds gardener, was using a push lawn mower to mow grass at the "Cal Pack ranch" site. Employee #1 saw a string on the ground and didn't want it to become caught in the mower blade. As he grabbed one end of the string, the other end became caught in the mower blade. Employee #1's hand was pulled under the mower guard, resulting in amputation of the third and fourth finger tips of his left hand. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
