Employee Falls While Pushing Totes, Fractures Leg

On 1-5-10, an employee was seriously injured at a drug store distribution center. This injury was reported to Cal-OSHA on 1-6-10 by the employer. The employee is an employee of the drug store and not a contract employee. The injured employee was taking totes off of a conveyor line to have drug store items taken out of the totes to be placed inside of a revolving carousel to be restocked. The employee was pushing two totes on the ground, one placed on top of the other. The top tote slipped off of the second tote and the employee fell. The employee appeared to have no injuries and worked two more hours. When the employee merely turned her body one-quarter of a turn her femur snapped. Identification of the tote is: Orbis CFD182, Monasha Corp. Volume is 1.3 cubic ft. Dimensions are 22 inches by 15 inches by 12 inches. Totes can carry up to 40 pounds.
