Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:00 a.m. on November 14, 2009, Employee #1, a carpenter/framer, was prefabricating wood panels and roof trusses for residential construction. While he was nailing a stack of three 2 in. by 4 in. wood studs to each other using a pneumatic nail gun (Hitachi Model Number NR83A), the gun slipped. A nail fired through his boot and into the first metatarsal bone of his left foot. Employee #1 was hospitalized at Lancaster Community Hospital for treatment of the puncture. Reportedly, the surface of the board Employee #1 was standing on at the time of the accident was slippery.
