Employee Suffers from Heat Exhaustion and Faints

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on August 26, 2009, Employee #1, a Laborer, was working under a covered Conveyor System and was sorting jalapeno peppers. The temperatures reached approximately 102 degrees Fahrenheit, and the employee left her work station to drink some water, which was located approximately 10 ft away. As she reached the water, she fainted. Employee #1 was taken by private vehicle to Santa Paula Hospital in Santa Paula, California where she was treated and released. The employer had implemented their Heat Illness Prevention Program with adequate provisions for training, shade and drinking water.
