Employee's Arms Are Burned When Caught in Conveyor

At approximately 12:20 p.m. on August 7, 2009, Employee #1, with Scattaglia Crystalaire Packers (a company that harvests and a packs fruits) was in a packing area pushing a nectarine box up a grip belt incline conveyor. His left hand slipped off the box and into the nip point of the conveyor roller. When Employee #1 tried to remove his left arm with his right hand, it was also pulled into the nip point. He called to his coworkers to stop the conveyor. Employee #1 sustained third-degree burns to both arms. He was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, and then transferred to USC Medical Hospital, where he was admitted.
