Employee's Legs Are Fractured by Falling Forklift Load

At approximately 8:55 a.m. on September 27, 2008, Employee #1, a cut saw operator, was helping a forklift operator lift a bundle of 18 ft long steel rods, weighing approximately 1,000 pounds. The forklift was a Clark Model Number C30CL LP, Serial Number C232L-1374-9592KE. The rods were being lifted from two metal rolling carts to two metal stands. Employee #1 was placing a metal stand on the floor. The load slipped off the forklift, striking and pinning him against the load and the conveyer of the cut saw machine. Employee #1 was hospitalized with two fractured legs.
