Employee Collapses While at Work

On November 16, 2011, Employee #1 of Leelanau Fruit Co., collapsed while pumping brine pit cherries into a cargo tanker. Emergency medical services transported Employee #1 to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The medical examiner identified the cause of death as acute myocardial infarction. The death certificate also identified coronary arterial disease and pulmonary hypertension as contributing factors.
