Employee Amputates Finger in Surface Grinder

On November 5, 2007, an employee working in the tool room department was operating a Bridgeport 815 surface grinder. He reached into the grinder prior to the grinder stopping. This condition resulted in an amputation of the tip of the middle finger on the left hand. The employee was taken to Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center in Marshalltown Iowa, where he was treated and released. The employee returned to work in 40 days.
