Worker Is Killed When Struck by Falling Pipe

On March 11, 2008, Employee #1 was cutting a section of 12 in. pipe with a pneumatic saw. One end of the pipe was attached to a backhoe. Employee #1 stopped the saw and removed it before completely cutting through the pipe. When the backhoe operator lifted the pipe, it failed at the point of the partial cut, fell, and struck Employee #1's chest. He was killed.
