Employee Is Crushed and Killed by Overturned Forklift

At 5:27 p.m. on July 1, 2008, an employee, the owner of a company doing masonry work at the back of the site of a new motel under construction, got into a Lull forklift and began to back up. The work area was newly excavated and very uneven with some partially graded areas. As the employee was backing the forklift, it slipped over the edge of the graded area and overturned. The employee was ejected from the operator's seat and was crushed and killed under the frame of the forklift. A coworker witnessed the accident. The weather on the day of the accident was clear and warm.
