Employee's Leg Is Amputated When Caught in Machine

On December 12, 2008, Employee #1 working in the kill floor sanitation department was cleaning at the Number 1 tail puller. The Number 1 tail puller cycled and caught his leg and pinned it between the tail puller arm and the puller shield. Employee #1 was hospitalized and his leg was amputated below the knee.
